Something you’d be surprised to know about me is how many siblings I have. So my parents have a big age gap, nothing too big. However, when my mom had my brother, my dad already had teenagers becoming adults soon. Although I hate to say my dad has been everywhere, he really has. When my mom was pregnant with me, she learned my dad was having an affair and that the mistress was also pregnant, and only two months before my mom. My dad wasn’t really a part of my mom’s pregnancy journey with me due to that issue. As well as I didn’t know about my dad until I was about six years old, when my mom ran into him at a grocery store, and he saw us. That’s when he wanted to become a part of our lives again. To me, it was strange because I really had no idea who this man was, claiming to be my dad, as I had a stepdad in my life who kinda took that role. Going to my dad’s house for the first time, I learned I had an older brother, a younger brother, and a younger sister. It was kinda weird as I grew up as the youngest. At times, I felt jealous of why I would be treated differently. Having to adjust from being the youngest to the middle was kinda weird. mainly the fact that I was held to a different point and rules. But overall, growing up and getting to see my sibling grow from a distance is quite nice. We aren’t close anymore since I’ve moved far away. But watching them from a distance and reconnecting with my sister in secret really made me see that being an older sibling and role model to them, even from being so far, is admirable. As they start to get older and be in charge, if they want to reconnect with me, it feels nice as they are choosing to do so. And we don’t have to be picked apart from our father and our mother.
